Mary S. Montoya

Mary Sanchez Montoya, age 95, passed away at Silver City Care Center in Silver City, NM on Tuesday March 19, 2024.

Mrs. Montoya is preceded in death by her husband Manuel L.  She is survived by five children Manuel S. (Laura), Camille Sanchez (Carlos), Judy Hackworth (John), Joseph P. (Martha) and Hope, eleven grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, and eleven great- great grandchildren.

She was born January 6,1929, the daughter of late Guadalupe and Camilla Sanchez in Valedon, NM and was a lifelong resident of Lordsburg, NM.  Mary was a homemaker and also worked at the former Up To Date Grocery for 40 years. She was a lifelong member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.

Visitation will be Wednesday morning, March 27, 2024 at 11 o’clock at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lordsburg, NM where the Holy Rosary will begin at 12 o’clock to be led by Carlos Bejarano.  Mass of Christian Burial will follow with Fr. Jude Okonkwo, Pastor officiating.   Burial will take place at Shakespeare Cemetery in Lordsburg, NM.  Pallbearers will be Tyler DeFoor, Izayah Piedra, Nikolas Montoya, Robby Gonzalez, Zachary Montoya and Christian Montoya.  Honorary bearer is Atreyu Pesnicak.
